Proposed Bylaw Changes
Thank you to those of you who responded to our call for feedback on the proposed revised bylaws. A big thank you to Ryan Sargent, Board Member and lawyer in Idaho, who wrote the proposed bylaws and incorporated your feedback in the revisions. The board of directors engaged a Missouri attorney to review the revised bylaws ensuring compliance with Missouri requirements. The attorney recommended we Restate our Articles of Incorporation to align the articles with the revised board position titles.
The approval of the Restated Articles of Incorporation and the revised bylaws will be voted on during the September 24, 2026, business meeting in Council Bluffs. Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the proposed Restated Articles of Incorporation and Restated Bylaws. Come to Council Bluffs prepared to vote. 2026 Award Nominations
The John Whitmer Historical Association is committed to supporting a broad swath of excellent scholarship in Latter Day Saint history. As such we encourage nominations from everyone. This year, many books and articles have been nominated from a diverse range of folks. We are proud to announce these scholarly works. The awards committees will spend the summer judging their merits and announce the winners at our Fall Conference to be held in Council Bluffs, Iowa. You won’t want to miss it!
