As we look ahead to the Spring/Summer 2026 issue of The John Whitmer Historical Association Journal, I want to extend an open invitation to all scholars, researchers, and writers of the Restoration tradition to consider submitting their work.

If you presented at the 2025 JWHA Conference, this is an especially natural next step. Your presentations were thoughtful, creative, and deeply rooted in the kind of careful historical inquiry our Journal is known for. Many of those papers are already primed to evolve into publishable articles with only modest development. If you have a draft, an outline, or even an idea you’d like to build upon, now is the perfect time.

What We’re Looking For

We welcome:

  • Full-length research articles
  • Primary-source analyses
  • Historiographical essays
  • Local and family history with broader significance
  • Explorations of Restoration movements across their many branches
  • Interdisciplinary approaches, especially those connecting history to ethics, theology, sociology, or public memory

If you presented at the conference, please consider turning your session contribution into an article. Your work sparked meaningful conversations—let’s help it reach an even wider audience.

Deadlines & Support

If you’re unsure whether your idea fits, please reach out. I am more than happy to talk through concepts, offer guidance on shaping an article, or review early drafts. Our goal is to support scholarly voices across the spectrum—from emerging scholars to long-established experts. The priority deadline for the Spring/Summer issue is February 15, 2026, though early submissions are always appreciated.

Book Reviews

If you know of a recently published book that deserves attention in our field, or if you’d be interested in writing a review yourself, please contact our Book Review Editor, Dr. David Howlett at howlettdavidj@gmail.com. We especially welcome suggestions for books that expand, complicate, or deepen our understanding of Restoration traditions.

Why Submit?

Publishing in the JWHA Journal:

  • Extends the reach of your scholarship
  • Help advance the field of Restoration studies
  • Strengthens the collective work of our community
  • Preserves new insights for future generations of researchers

Your voice matters. Your research matters. And the Journal is the ideal place to share it. I look forward to reading your work and helping shape another excellent issue of the JWHA Journal.

With Respect and Warm Regards,

Ken R. Mulliken, Ph.D.
Editor, JWHA Journal
