John Whitmer Historical Association holds its annual conference in late September. Conferences are held in places that have a connection with Community of Christ history or early Mormon history. Every three years, the meeting is held in Independence, Missouri.

Ragged Edge or Oasis? Situating the Early Strangite Movement in US Religious History
Amy DeRogatisis is professor of religion and american culture in the Department of Religion at Michigan State University. She has published two books, “Moral Geography: Maps, Missionaries, and the American Frontier,” and “Saving Sex: Sexuality and Salvation in American Evangelicalism.”
She is currently at work on a third book, “Mormon King: James Jesse Strang and the Strangite Community on Beaver Island.” Read her bio.

Saturday Afternoon Tours
This year there will be two Saturday afternoon tour options:
- Short Creek Settlement
- Mountain Meadows, Pine Valley, Jacob Hamblin Home and Pie in Veyo.
Tickets for a tour are $62.00 per person and include box lunch. You will have the opportunity to select a tour when you register for the conference. Advance registration required.
Sunday Morning Hymnfest
The hymnfest on Sunday, September 20 will be held at the St. George Tabernacle.
