Page Marker Commemoration Report

A commemorative marker was placed Saturday, 27 April 2002, on the newly rediscovered Hiram Page grave, near Excelsior Springs, Missouri.
Students and scholars of Mormon History are excited about the rediscovery and marking of Page's grave. MMFF Secretary Bill Curtis received permission from Frank and Cathy Hamer, property owners, to erect this marker and plan a suitable commemoration. About forty people turned out on a rainy Saturday morning for the unveiling. Dr. Richard L. Anderson, Brigham Young University, gave a short talk in remembrance.
The text reads:

The grave is located on the Hamer Farm north of Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Take Highway 10 to Excelsior Springs, north on Prentiss Avenue to 146th Street (gravel). 146th Street runs northeast. When you reach a Y turn to the right (east) and continue on 146th St. until you see a yellow house on the left and a two story older house beyond on the right. The Page grave is just past the yellow house- on the opposite (south) side of the gravel road. The grave is in the grass right-of-way between the road and fence. Though unmarked, it is outlined with large quarried rocks. The Hamers' horses graze in the pasture beside it.
