Changes in the bylaws during the 1996 Annual Meeting made an adjustment in how the JWHA Executive Director is appointed. Implementation of this new proceedure began following the 1997 JWHA Annual Meeting held at Kirtland, Ohio. The bylaws now provide for a three year term for this important responsibility. A good Executive Director is essential for any organization. Presidents come and go. They serve a valuable role. But, the Executive Director keeps the organization running day to day. Alma and Kay Blair served as executive secretaries for many years. In 1997 Norman Bernauer stepped in as Executive Director (with lots of help behind the scenes from his good wife Barbara). Norman served six years. In 2003, Ken Mulliken succeeded Norman Bernauer.
