Places of Decision: The Spatial and Metaphorical Geography of the Restoration
To be held in the Omaha-Council Bluffs area, September 23-26, 2004.
Proposals for papers are invited on a great variety of topics. Some examples might be:
• The spatial geography of the Reorganization from Plano, to Independence, to Lamoni and beyond
• The center and the periphery, metaphorically or literally
• The portability of the Kingdom of God
• Council Bluffs as the place where some Saints went west, some stayed put, and some went west and came back
• The discourse of place and how it is imbedded in the theology of the Restoration in general and the Community of Christ in particular
• The place of place in the intemationalizational of the Mormon movement.
Proposals for papers with a comparative perspective will be especially welcome.
