LAMONI'S RELIGIOUS DIVERSITY
Today Lamoni enjoys a strongly diverse religious tradition. Methodists, Baptists, Presbyterians, and RLDS each have played a significant role in the life and development of the community. As part of this religious heritage, RLDS members constructed the Lamoni Brick Church in 1893.
The building promoted numerous community cultural activities, including Sunday schools, Zion's Religio Literary Society, as well as music classes.
The Lamoni Brick Church was also destroyed by fire in 1931. Because of the nation-wide Depression, church leaders deferred plans for rebuilding until after World War II.
